Our residential home provides holistic care and healing for the young women and girls who have been rescued from trafficking, exploitation or abuse. While the outreach center offers a safe place and refuge for the children of women who are currently working in the red-light district. Our outreach center works to keep these children from getting trafficked or exploited, while the residential home provides care for young girls who have escaped trafficking, abuse, or exploitation. There are three residential homes and two outreach centers.

There are two outreach centers, Ashaloy and Ashaneer, for the children of the sex workers that’s located in the red-light district. The outreach centers provide security for the children as well. Ashaloy is a day program that includes nutritional snacks, tutoring, computer classes, and education. Ashaneer is an overnight shelter that provides 24 hours of security and safety for the children of sex workers to escape the realities of the brothels.

Friends of Mahima serves children and young adults. Our residential homes are for those aged 7-17 who have been saved from trafficking, and support their children, while the day center is for India’s most vulnerable population for newborns- 13 years of age.

There are many ways to support our mission besides monetarily. First of all we ask for support through prayer. We ask that God lays his hand on those who have been trafficked, exploited, or abused, and guide their counselors, doctors, and every person on their team both directly and indirectly. You can also volunteer your time, we offer several trips out to Kolkata, India. But you can also donate your time right from where you are by lending your expertise on video calls with our team in India.

Kolkata, India is home to one of the largest red-light districts in Asia. These districts are densely populated areas where thousands of women are engaged in sex work—there’s estimated to be 10,000 to 16,000 women in Kolkata alone. Many of these women have been trafficked or have turned to sex work as a means of survival with limited alternatives.
